My Story
Janee Arnn, LMT
My interest in the body began during my career as an archaeologist. As a field technician doing physically demanding work, I developed back pain. After experiencing the benefits of massage, I became interested in learning how to help others find relief from pain. In 2003, I began massage school at the Lauterstein-Conway School of Massage in Austin, Texas.
I loved massage school from the start. I was eager to move beyond relaxation techniques and into deeper work. I find the body endlessly fascinating and continue to build my knowledge through classes and workshops. After a few years as a massage therapist, I noticed that much of the chronic pain my clients experienced was linked to limited movement. Wanting to understand this better and improve my treatment approach, I became an ACE-certified personal trainer. Because I have always been especially interested in rehabilitation, I took a job with a chiropractor providing chiropractic rehab and massage. That experience taught me how effective it can be to combine massage with movement training to help people move beyond pain. It was there that I saw how targeted exercise programs, along with massage and chiropractic care, could support recovery from injury and chronic pain.
I have completed many continuing education courses, but the most influential has been my training in the John Barnes Method of Myofascial Release. It taught me to trust my intuition and to view the body as a fascial system rather than simply a collection of muscles and bones. I have also trained in lymphatic massage and cupping, and I often incorporate these modalities into my sessions.
I am currently pursuing a Pilates certification through Balanced Body to expand my movement-based training.
What to expect during your session with me
My goal is to create a supportive, professional space where your needs and treatment goals guide each session.
My 20+ years of massage experience combined with my love for movement and personal training certification makes my approach unique. I enjoy working with clients to help them release pain during massage sessions as well as helping to find movement patterns that may be exacerbating their conditions.
At the beginning of your appointment, we will take a few moments to check in about how you are feeling, what concerns you would like to address, and what you hope to receive from the session. From there, your treatment will be tailored to your body, your comfort level, and your specific goals.
Depending on your needs, I may incorporate techniques such as myofascial release, deep tissue work, cupping, lymphatic drainage, or other therapeutic approaches. I will pay close attention to how your body responds while also encouraging your input throughout the session so the treatment remains effective, safe, and as comfortable as possible.
Communication is an important part of the process. Please let me know at any time if the pressure, technique, or approach needs to be adjusted. Your feedback helps ensure that the session supports what you are looking for, whether that is relaxation, pain relief, improved mobility, or general wellness.
You can expect to be treated with respect, care, and professionalism as we work together to support your individual needs.
